Need a break from battles? Catch bugs, go fishing, read comic books, and do all sorts of other fun stuff in the YO-KAI WATCH game!

YO-KAI WATCH features a vast, open-world environment that rivals the biggest adventure games out there, but is still familiar enough to seem like strolling through your hometown. There’s a bank, a post office, schools, museums, hospitals, and countless other places to discover and explore. Here are just a few tips to get you started:

Take a comic break

There are lots of shops to visit in Springdale. Sometimes you might see a little open book symbol inside. Walk up to it and click A to read a funny Yo-kai comic book. There are several all over town—try to find ‘em all!

Gone fishin’

Once you get your fishing rod in the story, you’ll be able to fish in rivers and ponds. If you catch any, you can trade them in for in-game money or items at the Jungle Hunter. Be on the lookout for rare fish—these will net you some extra special items at Jungle Hunter!

Fish aren’t the only critters you can trade in at Jungle Hunter—you can also catch and trade in bugs, including rare, valuable ones. Just look for the magnifying symbol when you’re near a tree and swing that net!

Treasure hunt

Have you seen little purple or gold boxes with eyeballs on them around town? They contain treasures, everything from food to valuable coins you can use in the Crank-a-kai machine to get items or even rare Yo-kai. They are hidden all over the place—some more hidden than others! Gold ones can only be opened once but purple boxes reappear each day, so you can go back and get even more stuff.

Be a Yo-kai foodie

Is that a grumble in your tummy? Lucky for you that Springdale is full of a variety of restaurants, from ramen and hamburger joints to bakeries and candy shops. Here you can buy food items that can be used to heal Yo-kai on your team. They can also be used to help win the friendship of Yo-kai foes so they can join your squad, but you’ll need to do a little trial and error to find out which food is their favorite!

The good neighbor policy

Whether it’s running out of ingredients for a recipe or the mysterious disappearance of a pet, it seems like the people of Springdale are always having problems. Fortunately, they can rely on you to help them out. This is also a great way to level up your Yo-kai and earn money and items. If you lose track of what you’re supposed to do, just check the Quests lists on your menu.
