July 21 marks the first anniversary of the Pokémon UNITE game for the Nintendo Switch system. As part of the anniversary, there will be a bunch of updates and events to keep the celebration going. You can learn more below!

 

If you haven’t played it yet, Pokémon UNITE is a free-to-start game where trainers face off in 5-on-5 team battles with your Pokémon. Trainers can deck out their Pokémon in holographic outfits (called Holowear), obtain Pokémon licenses to use specific Pokémon in battle, strategize with powerful Unite Moves, and enjoy cross-platform support for both the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions.

 

In-game presents

When: July 21 to October 12

 

You can log on five times during this period to get free Unite licenses and Holowear. Holowear can help add a little style to your battles!

 

New Pokémon licenses

When: Starts July 21

 

During the first-year anniversary, six Pokémon will join Pokémon UNITE’s battles.

 

July 21: Glaceon

August 4: Buzzwole

August 16: Tyranitar

September (and beyond): Three more Pokémon will be available. Who will they be?

 

New challenges

When: July 21 at 12:00 a.m. to August 14 at 4:59 p.m.

 

You can be on the lookout for the Icy Glaceon Challenge! You can complete missions to get the Unite license for Glaceon. Holowear for Glaceon will also be release on the same day for a bit of Glaceon-centric personalization.

 

New battle mode

When: Starts July 21 (You can check http://unite.pokemon.com for more info on availability periods.)

 

You can get ready for Boss Rush, a special type of quick battle! Boss Rush is a mode where players work together with their teammates to defeat the powerful bosses that appear one after another.

 

Invite-a-Friend campaign

When: July 21 at 12:00 a.m. to August 11 at 4:59 p.m.

 

If players invite a friend to start playing Pokémon UNITE, both the inviting player and the invited friend can get in-game presents! Please note that only players who are at Trainer level 6 or above will be able to send invitations.

 

Returning Trainer Support Event

When: July 21 at 12:00 a.m. to August 4 at 4:59 p.m.

 

Players can get various rewards by teaming up with people who haven’t logged in 14 days or more.

 

Teaming up & ranking up

When: July 22 at 5:00 p.m. to July 24 at 4:59 p.m. and August 19 at 5:00 p.m. to August 21 at 4:59 p.m.

 

Players get additional performance points when they form teams and participate in ranked matches.

 

Anniversary Cake Challenge

When: July 21 at 12:00 a.m. to September 1 at 4:59 p.m.

 

Players can get frosting by logging in, battling, and completing missions. Players can then complete the cake by collecting frosting, getting various in-game rewards in the process.

 

More fun stuff!

Players can be on the lookout for Battle Pass Season 9: band Style – Pikachu, the start of ranked match season 5, and a new gameplay addition called Pokémon boost emblems.
