Here’s a rundown of what’s included in the free update and what’s happening in the next few months in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch family of systems.

In the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, time moves along just like in real life. This means that seasons will change, different bugs and fish may hang out on your island, and some fun events are on the horizon. Whether you experienced these events last year or will experience them for the first time this year, here’s a rundown of what’s happening in the next few months. To participate in the events, you’ll need to download a free update* available now.

Fireworks Shows (every Sunday in August)

Ready for pretty colors and fun festivities? During the month of August, a fireworks show will be lighting up your island’s sky every Sunday after 7 p.m. You can even design your own fireworks by giving custom design patterns to Isabelle.

And while you’re out celebrating, it’s a good idea to use Bells to buy in-game raffle tickets from Redd. If you participated in this event last year, please note that you may see some sweet, newly added prizes up for grabs.

Newly added seasonal items

You can check Nook Shopping for newly added seasonal items. You’ll find a selection of items based on special days!

Bug-Off events (August 28 and September 25)

Residents in the Northern Hemisphere will be able to take part in Flick’s Bug-Off event on August 28 and September 25. Good luck catching bugs!

*Players will need to connect to the internet and download the latest update data to access certain in-game events as they become available.
