Interacting with your neighbors is a great way to build your community in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game. Here are a few different ways you can get to know the residents on your island!

You can chat ‘em up

The first step to getting to know your fellow residents is simple – you can talk to them every day! To chat with a neighbor, you can walk up to them and press the A Button. You can choose to just say hi or even ask them what’s going on.

You can send letters and gifts

It’s always nice to receive a card from a friend. As you grow closer to your residents, they might send something to your in-game mailbox. You can return the favor by mailing letters and packages to your favorite in-game residents via the card stand in the airport. It costs only 200 Bells to send a letter or gift!

You can celebrate their birthday

Speaking of gifts…another way to show a resident you care is to give them a gift on their birthday. You can swing by their house to celebrate their special day. You can check out the Island Bulletin Board for info on upcoming birthdays.

You can offer a helping hand

When it comes to your island neighbors, a little help goes a long way! If a resident has a thought bubble over their head or runs up to you, you can talk to them and find out if they need any assistance. They might ask you to do them a favor, like catching a certain bug or delivering an item to another resident. You can also help residents by returning lost items to their rightful owners.

You can try talking to Sable

Once Mable and Sable open their tailor shop on your island, you can go there to shop for clothes or just to chat. At first, Sable seems too busy to talk – she’s always hard at work at her sewing machine. But you can try talking to her whenever you visit the shop and she might open up!
