If you venture out into the cold between December 11 and February 24 in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, you can check the ground for snowballs. Give them a little push along the ground. Keep rolling them and once they get big enough, you can stack two together to make a Snowboy! Here are a few tips on how to create a perfect Snowboy on your island this winter.

How to find the starter snowball

The snow starts to settle around December 11 in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. From that time until the end of winter in the game on February 24, two snowballs will appear each day at random spots on the snow on your island. Once you find a snowball you can kick and then roll it with your hands until it stops getting bigger. This will be the Snowboy’s body. Please note: the snowballs are delicate, so try to be careful when rolling them!

How to build the Snowboy’s head

The second snowball can typically be found close to the first one. Kick the snowball, then roll it until it is slightly smaller than the first snowball. This will be the Snowboy’s head. Remember to start near the body when rolling the second snowball, or else it may get too big.

How to complete the Snowboy

Once the head is the right size, you can roll the smaller snowball right onto the larger snowball. As the head rolls onto the body, the Snowboy will come to life! The snowballs are fragile, so if they break you can enter and exit a building to spawn new snowballs somewhere on your island.

How to know if your Snowboy is perfect

Not sure if your snowballs were made with the right balance? Don’t worry! Once your Snowboy comes to life, if it is perfect, it will let you know and reward you with a large snowflake.

What’s next?

Perfect or not, Snowfolk will only last a few days. These frozen friends can be very charming, so be sure to chat with them. Perfect Snowboys will reward you with a large snowflake once per day if you talk to them. If you manage to build them perfectly, Snowboys will also reward you with seasonal DIY recipes and other winter-themed items!
