You’ll soar between floating islands and descend to the treacherous surface world in the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Luckily, you have a spirit named Fi to help you (as Link) in your quest to find Zelda—including these helpful hints on how to survive dungeons!

You can stock up on supplies

Before heading into a dungeon, you might want to swing by the bazaar in Skyloft. This shopping area is a great place to stock up on items for the perilous journey ahead. You can buy potions, bombs, arrows, and even upgrade your gear!

You can use your items

This one sounds obvious, but it’s easy to forget that items may have more than one use. Not sure how to overcome an obstacle or solve a puzzle? If you try getting creative with the items at your disposal, you just might be able to find a way forward—and learn something new about your tools!

You can keep an eye on enemies

Link faces off against a spider enemy in a dungeon.

Before launching an attack, you can take some time to observe an enemy’s behavior and characteristics. You may spot a way to get past their defenses and defeat them.

You can explore every location

This is a valuable tip for any game in the Legend of Zelda series! In The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD, you can check the dungeon map to see which rooms can access. The map also shows where treasure chests are located!

When in doubt, you can ask Fi

Fi speaks to Link: Use the Beetle you obtained to explore and investigate your surroundings from high in the air.

Maybe you need a hint to help defeat a tricky monster. Maybe you want to learn more about your surroundings. If you’re stuck and don’t know what to do next, just remember you can call on Fi for advice!
