You can join forces with your family to save the day in the Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe game for the Nintendo Switch family of systems. Up to 4* people can enjoy this platforming adventure starring the tough puff Kirby and some of his iconic friends. Here are a few tips and tricks on how to plan a fun family night around multiplayer action in the game. You can even get a taste of the adventure with a free Demo Version for up to 4 players!

How many people can play? How many Joy-Con controllers and Nintendo Switch systems are needed?

Kirby’s Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a 1-4 player* platforming adventure across Planet Popstar. You can play solo or with friends and family on a quest to help Magolor find his missing ship pieces. Up to 4 players can play on a single Nintendo Switch system, and each player will need their own Joy-Con controller. Once everyone is settled in, you can dive into multiplayer Story Mode!

Who gets to play as Kirby? What are the other playable characters?

Player 1 will lead the way as the powerful pink puff, Kirby. A more experienced player (like a parent) may want to take this role and lead the others into battle. As Kirby moves across the screen, the other characters will automatically follow. Each other player can control a different-colored Kirby or one of Kirby’s iconic friends like King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Bandana Waddle Dee.

What is Helper Magolor and how does it work?

You can call on Helper Magolor to save you from danger if things get too tough in the main adventure. This feature provides double stamina and will save you from falling—which means it could be a big help for younger players! It can be turned off and on at any time. Helper Magolor can only be used while playing in Story Mode.

How can we play together in the multiplayer modes?

Story Mode, Merry Magoland, and Magolor Epilogue are great modes to play together as a family. In Story Mode, everyone can work together to find the missing ship pieces. You can visit the Merry Magoland amusement park to play subgames, collect stamps, and earn in-game prizes. In Magolor Epilogue (unlocked after completing Story Mode), you and your family can take control of different-colored Magolors for 4-player interdimensional action.

How can we combine powers for Team Attacks?

You can combine powers with other players by riding piggyback, which is a great way to get the whole family working together. Once everyone is stacked up and in position, you can just press and release the L or R buttons at the same time to execute a super-strong Team Attack. Effects will vary based on the number of players and who is on the bottom of the stack.
