Tips for building a better team
Your Yo-kai Watch holds six Yo-kai, so choose wisely!
Same tribes
There are eight different Yo-kai tribes, and each tribe has special skills in battle. So if you place two Yo-kai from the same tribe next to each other on your wheel, you can get a special Tribe Unity bonus—and that gives tribe-twinsie Yo-kai a special boost to one of their stats.
A healer
Some Yo-kai, like Hungramps and Tongus, focus on healing. Consider having one of these Yo-kai in your front rotation at all times! You can then try to keep an eye out for Yo-kai with low health or bad status effects, then rotate them into the back row to be healed.
Elemental techniques
Yo-kai can be strong against some elements and weak against others. Attacking enemies with its weakness can deal major damage. This can be useful for fights where you’re having trouble inflicting any damage on an enemy. And just an FYI—healing and absorbing won’t be affected by elemental moves.
On-hand items
You can use items you’ve collected in the game to help your team in battle. Or, if you want to try to get an opposing Yo-kai to like you, you can offer them a food item. But be careful—different Yo-kai have different favorite foods. And did you know you can use items at the very start of the battle, before you even begin to fight? Nice!
Well-equipped Yo-kai
You can equip your Yo-kai with helpful items that can boost and reduce stats such as Strength, Speed, Spirit, and Defense. Rings, Charms, and other equipment can be found in treasure chests, traded for, or created through Fusion. Some Yo-kai can equip one item, while others can equip two items. It can help to think about a Yo-kai’s Tribe and attributes when equipping them with items.
Bonus tip!
Have you heard about Legendary Yo-kai? Rumor has it they’re extremely strong, but befriending them can be a very challenging task, requiring you to fill out a special page in your Medallium. Once they’ve been befriended, though, they can add some serious muscle to your team. Do you think you can befriend one?
